BATHING RITUALS: AN AUTUMN GUIDE TO BATHING

As the leaves turn golden and the air cools, autumn brings a beautiful transition—one that affects not only the world around us but also our skin. This season of change, with its crisp mornings giving way to warmer afternoons, can leave your skin navigating between cool dryness and lingering humidity. It’s the perfect time to indulge in a mindful bath, crafted to nurture both body and soul.

We’re excited to introduce our Seasonal Bathing Tips series, where we’ll share simple, mindful ways to enhance your bathing routine throughout the year. From recommended essential oils and skincare tips to seasonal adjustments that keep you grounded, we have you covered.

1. Balancing Between Hot and Cold

With autumn’s shifting temperatures, creating a bath that grounds and soothes is essential. The warmth of your bath should be comforting, but not too hot—extreme heat can strip the skin of its natural oils, which are especially needed as the weather dries out.

Tip: Set your bathwater to a moderate warmth. This allows your body to unwind without risking over-drying your skin.

2. Essential Oils for Autumn

Adding essential oils to your bath can elevate the experience, providing grounding and soothing benefits that support your skin’s changing needs. Here are some of our favorite oils for this time of year:

  • Cedarwood: This rich, earthy scent promotes relaxation and eases tension, making it perfect for grounding yourself after a long day.

  • Sandalwood: Known for its calming properties, sandalwood helps balance emotions and nourishes dry skin.

  • Cinnamon: Warming and spicy, cinnamon evokes the coziness of autumn, offering an invigorating and comforting experience for both body and mind.

Add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to your bath, or opt for a Tula Louise bar that already includes them. You can find these scents in our JOUKA, IYASHI, and MIEL bars.

3. Bath Aftercare

After a relaxing soak, your pores are open and ready to absorb moisture. But before reaching for a robe or towel, give your skin a moment to breathe.

Tip: After stepping out of the bath, gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel, leaving a bit of moisture on your skin. Immediately apply a rich, hydrating moisturizer or body oil to lock in the moisture. Choose nourishing yet breathable products, such as our Triple Butter and Jojoba Oil Body Balm.

Although it’s tempting to wrap up immediately on a chilly day, allow your skin a minute to settle into the moisture before putting on a jumper or dressing gown. This helps prevent overheating and irritation from heavier layers.
